Redefining Influencer Marketing in 2025

a prophecy in the making

Recently, we outlined how the Influencer Marketing landscape would witness change this 2020. But, that’s the short game. Let’s look ahead, now.

Trends to watch out for in 2025:

1. Followers will be able to purchase straight from influencers.

In five years, influencer marketing will require nothing more than a button. Confused? Let me explain. Influencer posts will only need a button that redirects followers to the product where the product can be bought instantly without hassle. With data-driven softwares, the influencer will automatically get attribution for the purchase, no promotional codes required.

2. The Influencer Marketing industry will become much more regulated.

Right now, influencers are legally required to use “#ad” when publishing promotional content. Beyond that, there aren’t many regulations. In five years, with increasing popularity for influencer marketing, the industry will have to adopt regulations to sustain itself in the long-term.

3. Everyone will become an influencer.

We went from micro-influencers to nano-influencers. What’s next? Pico-influencers? Femto-influencers? Yocto-influencers? As we continuously redefine what being an influencer really means, a large flux of individuals will set up their social media accounts in an attempt to become influencers and attain influencer-like perks. At that point, companies will be willing to distribute free products in large quantities to even the smaller-influencers, just for the user-generated content and the likelihood that these influencers would recruit friends and family.

We have all heard the 5-by-5 rule — if it won’t matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 seconds fretting over it. So, what are you waiting for? Bring the change.
